Yes, I have finished my expedition to Antarctica, but I continue to read, review and learn about the seventh continent. My fellow Pengüinistas forward interesting tidbits they have come across as well. Therefore, I will be posting relevant news and discoveries about Antarctica. For instance, did you know that Shackleton’s ship, the Endurance, was discovered on the sea floor of the Weddell Sea last year in 2022?
The link below features another adventurer’s experience. Alexyn Scheller, of Alexyn Photo and Video, created this 41-minute piece. He does a great job editing footage and describing the journey including getting to Antarctica and key sights. The travelog features he and his wife Jennifer and another couple taking advantage of many of Quark’s excursions: glacier trekking, overnight camping on Antarctica, kayaking and Zodiac boat cruises as well as the notorious polar plunge. Diagrams, maps and animations provide context and location. Judging from the breeding stage of the penguins and how far South they went before encountering icebergs, my guess is this was shot during December and pre-COVID pandemic. Ushuaia is pronounced Oo-Shwi’-a not Yu-Swi’-a. Eh, but no matter. It’s pretty good.
Thank you for sharing your adventure, Fran :)
